Other information: Grows throughout the western half of the U.S. from the Dakotas and Nebraska to the coast. It can grow to 15 feet but normally stays at about 4 feet. (http://plant-materials.nrcs.gov). Seedling shoot length at 10 months in 2007 was 14 inches and caliper was 5 mm.
